I LOVE THE FALL.
“Autumn... the year's last, loveliest smile.” ― William Cullen Bryant
“Spring passes and one remembers one's innocence.
Summer passes and one remembers one's exuberance.
Autumn passes and one remembers one's reverence.
Winter passes and one remembers one's perseverance.” ― Yoko Ono
“Love the trees until their leaves fall off, then encourage them to try again next year.”
― Chad Sugg
HAPPY JEWISH NEW YEAR! 5784!
Rosh Hashanah begins on Wednesday, October 2nd at sunset.
Yom Kippur, the 24 hour fasting Holiday, begins at sunset on Friday, October 11th.
The ten days between the two is a time to make amends and ask for forgiveness. You can ask your G-d to forgive you if you ‘sinned’ against Him or Her.
But you CANNOT ask for ‘blanket’ forgiveness if you hurt someone. You MUST ask for forgiveness from that person and just the act of asking absolves you. The other person can forgive and it’s all clear…OR they can NOT forgive and the onus then falls on them.
That’s how to begin the New Year clean and clear!
We also honor those who came before us, who were incredibly courageous to make the journey to come here, not knowing what to expect out of life, but knowing the life they left behind was intolerable.
We are ALL made of the DNA of courageous people. ALL OF US!
MOONGLOW
The landscape in the fields is rapidly changing. Days are shorter; nights are cooler. Leaves are falling; prairies and forests are rapidly thinning.
The crops have been harvested.
Fox, deer, turkey and other animals have come out to glean and fatten for the cold winter but are easily tracked by the autumn moonlight. It’s time to hunt!
October 17th will present us with the Full Hunter’s Moon.
NOTE: Did you miss last month’s Harvest Moon? I saved these photographs because they are spectacular and need to be shared.
THANKS TO ALL THE NEW PAID SUBSCRIBERS WHO MAKE MY LIFE EASIER!
The video memoir I will post tomorrow is about having/not having children. Seems timely to share a very personal story.
POLITICALLY CORRECT THOUGHTS:
Truth is the only safe ground to stand upon. -Elizabeth Cady Stanton, women's rights activist (1815-1902)
If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. –John Quincy Adams, sixth U.S. President (1767-1848)
You do not lead by hitting people over the head – that's assault, not leadership.
– Dwight D. Eisenhower, 34th President (1890-1969)
Guard your honor. Let your reputation fall where it will. And outlive the bastards.
– Lois McMaster Bujold, author
Setting an example is not the main means of influencing another, it is the only means. –Albert Einstein
